My fashion wish list…

Francesca M. Healy(1)

Wow! The fashion and style space in the first half of 2018 alone has been quite exciting.

Its been really fun seeing how people are embracing some of the new and not so new trends.

I am not a big follower of trends but more of ‘style’. The items below are ones that I would love to add to my closet and I believe that they are timeless

The Nicky Tubular Mules from Top Shop

I dont actually have any item in my wardrobe that is yellow. It is not the colour that usually catches my eye but this time it was different. They will go great with boyfriend jeans or even a midi pleated skirt

The Trefoil tee from Adidas

Now this is the definition of timeless. Though basic but very classic. The classic tee will go with almost any outfit which makes it a great addition to my wardrobe.

The Ava Ring Handle Saddle bag from Cotton On

I first saw this absolutely cute bag on the store’s online shop and it was love at first sight. But actually seeing it in person and getting to touch it was something else. I decided to take a look and its a little smaller than I had expected. This made it even better. This bag is actually inspired by the high end designer bags from Chloe:

The fur scarf

I’ve wanted this scarf for a long time and I am wasting no more time this winter. I would like it in white, blush and black. This scarf will totally transform any outfit. You can wear it over a turtleneck vest or over most jackets just like Thando Thabethe:

My 25th birthday gift wish list

It is exactly two more sleeps until my birthday. I actually wonder if I am too old to be getting excited for my birthdays anymore. But this one is special. It is my crown birthday. Meaning I will be turning 25 on the 25th of August. I have been waiting for this particular birthday for as long as I can remember, especially since 25 is a milestone for a lot of people , I had always had this image in my head of where I wanted to be at 25 but life happened in some cases. Im very happy nonetheless. God is in control of all of this.

I noticed that as I grew older, the less gifts I want. Coming up with this list took a little longer than I had thought it would. A couple of years ago I would have probably listed 20 items in half the time.

This is no way a request my fellow readers, family and friends. So you can breath easy. But of course,if you are feeling generous,by all means bless me lol

A day off

This was the very first thought that came to mind. Imagine waking up to do NOTHING at the very least on your birthday. I’ve already taken a days leave at work,my daughter will be at creche then I will see where the rest of the day takes me

A spa treatment

I definitely would appreciate a full body massage with some champagne on tap while eating delicious juicy summer fruit. Aww, just the thought of it makes me happy 🙂

Si by Giorgio Armani

Oh how I absolutely love this perfume. There was a magazine that I bought and it had the sample inside it. And it was love at first scent. I think it’s a great summer scent.

Canon Powershot G7x

This is a brilliant substitute for those bulky slr cameras. The features are great and I love the fact that it is pocket sized. I would really like to get into vlogging, more especially travel vlogging in the new year and I think this will be the perfect companion.

The Gucci Soho Disco leather cross body bag

I can just picture myself in a chic outfit with this bag on my shoulder. It comes in other colours but I really want it in this red. It is so cute and it is only R12 000 or so. Yes only lol

That is it for me for this year. Here’s to being a quarter of a century old

What being a young mom has taught me

I remember the day when I found out that I was pregnant like it was just a few minutes ago. It is engraved in my mind forever. I was petrified to say the least.

Those 9 months were the best and the worst for their own respective reasons. I remember I used to cry to my fiance every day ( maybe it was the hormones) , but I felt like I was not ready for the change that was  about to come. I was worried that I wouldn’t be a good mother, that I wouldn’t be able to provide because we had not planned this.  For the first time in my life I felt like I was no longer in control of my life and what would happen next. And this depressed me.

I stopped studying and I had to start looking for a job now. Things didn’t go so well in that department because getting a job in my pregnant state was not so easy. Fortunately my fiance and family were there for me

I prayed more than I have ever prayed in my life when I was pregnant and I had completely surrendered my situation to God. There was a weight lifted off after that.

I then began to draft a letter to my unborn child. Telling her that we had gone through so much together yet she was not even born. My love grew even more.

Then D-day came

10 September 2015

And there she was. The prettiest little thing on earth. I forgot all my fears and all I knew is that I would do anything to protect her.  I had no idea how I was going to do this but I knew that somehow I would.

This was a new relationship. A strong, yet fragile one. A beautiful, yet a scary one.

This little person has taught me so much more than I could ever teach her.

  • Just because I had my baby a little young does not mean that my life is over. In fact I have a new life. A new beginning. I have a purpose.
  • I don’t always have to be in control. Things will happen at the right time even when you have planned otherwise
  • My dreams don’t have to be flushed down the toilet. They just need to be adjusted a little.
  • The value of family. I love my mom more than I ever thought I could. I love my family like crazy especially my aunts. Its amazing how I have a baby but I’m still the baby sometimes.
  • Being a mom has taught me courage and unconditional love. Everything (well, almost everything)that I was afraid to do I am doing right now example my blogging and fashion styling business.
  • There is someone a little bit more important than me. Time to stop being self centered
  • Her daddy is an amazing man 😍

Most importantly but not least, she has taught me the value of time. Looking at someher I just want to cry because she is growing so fast which means that I am growing older. It is truly incredible to see this human being that used to be in my tummy thriving on this earth. She is so intelligent. Such a great personality she has and she loves clothes just like her mommy lolIMG_20170611_155309

My life is going way better than I had anticipated. Everything worked out in the end. All that I was worried about has been taken care of by God. Our ultimate provider.

One of the  Scriptures that I meditated and loved was Psalm 127:3-5

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him”

I have received my reward here on earth.

My first lookbook

I have been meaning to do a lookbook for a while now. After all this is also a style blog, right? I must say I enjoyed it and there are many more to come. Being able to share my style with the world is one of the best outlets for me, personally. I show you a piece of who I am.

Outfit details

I am a big fan of winter fashion but for some reason I just cannot let go of some of my summer items. I incorporate a lot of my summer clothing items into my winter just for more variety. I do this a lot.

The main attraction of this outfit is ,of course, the army green mesh top from Cotton On. I love it so much and I cannot wait to find more ways to dress this up. It is currently on sale so do hurry before you miss out on it!

My first

My beanie, mesh top and boots are all from Cotton On

My skirt is from Mr Price

My leather jacket is one of my classics from Identity

I hope you loved this look as much as I did. I will upload another lookbook soon so please come back for more!

Also dont forget to share this post and connect with me on social media!

Winter date night ideas

The weather is getting chillier as the days go by. We are officially in winter by the looks of things. I don’t know about you,but I don’t really enjoy being out in the cold as much. Especially at night. But of course, life doesn’t stop just because of the weather and the fun doesn’t have to end too. That’s why I came up with some ways that I could enjoy winter with not just my partner, but the rest of my family as well

1. Candlelit dinner

This right here is a classic. You will never go wrong with a candlelit dinner in the safe, warm and comfort of your home. Things are so convenient now. If you’re not the kitchen type, you can always get something delicious delivered to your doorstep from Uber eats!

2. A bake off

I love to bake and I am pretty good at following instructions.Just whip out a recipe book or search for one online and let the battle begin.

3.A movie marathon

Netflix and chill lol

4.Game night!

Invite some friends over.Make it interesting by playing couple against couple or girls vs boys. My favorite games are 30 seconds and pictionary. It is so hilarious how people can get so competitive.

5.Shoot a music video

There are really cool apps for this. We do this all the time at home and it is so much fun. I’ve always had those fantasies of being in a music video and I get to fulfill that fantasy lol

6.Have a praise and worship night

All that singing and praying to the Lord will surely heat things up. Most importantly you will come out feeling closer to God and closer to your family. This is tried and tested countless times. It’s a lot of fun.

7.Fire + marshmallows

This is great especially for those nights when it’s really cold. If you don’t have a fireplace in your house you can make a small bon fire outside. Play music, sing ,burn the marshmallows and have a nice cup of hot coco. Yum!

8.Indoor picnic

My ultimate favorite thing to do during summer. So why not bring it into winter?

9.Cocktail blend-off

Were you a mixologist or bartender in your past life? Find out by tasting each other’s mixes. Invite a few friends over to be the judges. Lol

10.Photo booth

Get some props, set up your camera, with a cool background, get in to your pj’s and snap away! The more people, the merrier!

Share your ideas with me. I would love to hear them.

Please share this post as well 🙂

My quick breakfast recipe

I start work at 7am everyday, which I am still getting used to. When most people are just leaving their house,I am already at work. Because I start work so early,I usually don’t have time to eat breakfast at home so I bring my ingredients to work with me and wip up something quick. Luckily we have a really nice kitchen here. 🙂

Every day is a different day. I don’t like eating the same breakfast foods everyday,so I experiment quite a bit. I like breakfast food that is filling and gives me energy but it also has to be quick and easy to make and of course, delicious too.

I tried this oat and fruit mixture and I loved it so I thought I should share:

  1. I boil water in the kettle and mix it with my oats and I let it stand for about a minute (I usually make some coffee during this time)
  2. After letting it stand I pour a little more water and place it in the microwave for 1 minute
  3. Then I add a little milk and place it back into the microwave for another minute

4. I then cut up half an apple and half a banana (you can choose your favourite fruit, whatever you like)

5. Then I add it to my oats 🙂 and drizzzle some sugar on it. Not too much because the fruit already have some sugar

All of this takes me less than 5 minutes in the kitchen, then I quickly rush back to my desk and eat then I start my day on a good note, with a happy tummy and a good amount of energy.

You can add whatever fruit you like or nuts with some honey. I have seen many variations of this recipe and so far this is my favourite because it is quick and simple.

Let me know what your variation is. I would love to try it out too. Better yet, tell me what your favourite quick breakfast recipe is. I am always looking for new recipes to try.

Winter investment pieces

I am big on investment pieces when it comes to my wardrobe. An investment piece for me is a certain clothing item that will always stay in style no matter what trends come in or go out. You can be assured that with this particular piece you can still wear for years to come.

Investment pieces or basic essentials give your wardrobe a longer life. Pairing your investment pieces with other basics or one or two trendy pieces will have you always looking stylish.

It certainly is quality over quantity when it comes to your investment pieces. You don’t want to be buying the same thing every year. So,do not be afraid to splurge a little because it is an “investment”

My absolute must haves in my winter closet are these:

Leather jacket

This gives an edge to any outfit

I love these so much. Get them in a nice bright colour to add pop to your outfit.

Boots,boots and boots

You can never have enough boots. Different heights to accommodate each outfit.

Try to get ones that look as close to being pants as possible. They look more decent. Forever New has great riding pants that are the best quantity.

The latest trend is the chunkier the better. I call them blanket scarves. Lol. Warm for days.

I don’t think that I could survive winter without these. A bonus is they can save you during a bad hair day.

Trench coat/jacket

Not only stylish but warm. That is key

Leather gloves ( amongst others)

I love leather gloves. They always make me feel a little glamorous.

These are my essential pieces for this coming winter. What are yours?

Alexander Wang x Adidas collaboration

This weekend was a big one for the fashion industry. As we have seen Alexander Wang and Adidas hit us with a “Beyonce” by releasing their surprise collaboration. A genius marketing strategy.

I love a good fashion collaboration and for me, this was highly unexpected. Nonetheless, it looks great overall.

This is definitely one for the fashion history books and I believe that there are some pieces from the collection that will be considered vintage in the years to come.

On that note I would like to share my most favorite pieces from the collection so far:

Just when you thought athleisure was going out of style, they brought it all the way back

The best cominbination of Minimalistic and Monochromatic.

NYX Cosmetics lip cream review

I hardly wear full make-up when I go to work but lip wear is a must for me. I even keep a small cosmetics bag in my handbag JUST for my lipsticks, lip balms etc. I usually have a go-to lip colour but decided to try this one by NYX Cosmetics. It is the soft matte lip cream in the colour Barcelona.

I am very impressed with the durability of this lip cream. I had applied it only once this morning. I drank water, I ate greasy food and still. The coverage was still way better than most lip products I have tried. To top it off the glass I was drinking water with had no stains on it whatsoever.

I love the packaging. Its exactly the size I like. Nice and petite ,it can easily fit into my little cosmetics bag so I can take it everywhere I go. One of the best things about this hit of a lip cream is that it doesn’t get flaky or crackly. Even though it is matte its still quite moisturizing at the same time. Because you don’t have to apply it often like most lip products you actually save. And you know sometimes you get too busy to even think of checking if your lips are still looking good, with this product you can rest assured that you will be looking great for most of the day.

I urge all my readers to try it out. I’m pretty sure you will not be wanting to use any other products after this.

If you have tried the lip cream as well please let me know what you think!

This is my second ‘first’ blog post. Yay!

I say second because I deleted everything I had posted before. As a newbie blogger this venture has been a rather challenging one. I had to find out first hand that blogging takes a lot of TIME and dedication. Dedication I have, its the time that I had to work on. As a full-time working mom to my 1 year old and partner to my amazing fiance,I had one more passion to add to my already tight schedule.

Lesson learned,I am back in full swing.

I’d like to talk about my personal style. Firstly,I am a lazy dresser. I think they call it “minimalist” these days.Even more so ever since I became a mom. I am simple and don’t like to try too hard. There certainly are times where I put in more effort and go all out but that usually depends on the occasion. Every thing you will see me wearing in this blog is all me with a twist each time. Showing you is better than telling you.

My style icons are Solange Knowles, Kylie Jenner and Rihanna. You’ll get to see this on my upcoming style looks.

I am so excited and happy to be sharing parts of my life with people who may be reading this. Its an outlet for my passions and I am going to be dancing like nobody is watching.
